The 1st annual "Workin' Like a Dog" Walk is the latest fundraising effort by the Springfield Queen City Lions Club.  We are proud to be a "Leader Club" in support of the LeaderDogs for the Blind-Canine Development Center Project and invite you to become a part of this worthy cause.  All profits raised in this event will go to fulfill our pledge.

LeaderDogs for the Blind was started 75 years ago just north of Detroit Michigan by 3 Lion's who had a friend who needed a guide dog. 75 years later, they have provided over 14,500 dogs to blind and visually impaired individuals around the world.  Lions clubs around the world continue to be involved in their mission.

Do you know that Southwest Missouri currently has 11 active client/dog teams, several right here in Springfield?  LeaderDogs for the Blind may be based in Michigan, but they truly do touch lives all around the world, assisting the visually-impaired and also their families, friends and the entire community.

Please join us on this walk to honor Service Dogs.  Besides enjoying this beautiful park with our dogs, there will be an opportunity to see Springfield Police K9's demonstrate their skills, members of the Springfield MO Dog Training Club will demonstrate basic obedience skills and a local LeaderDog Puppy Raiser will talk about 'puppy raising' for LeaderDogs for the Blind, including training requirements and how to interact with a Service Dog when you meet one. Vendors will also be in attendance with products and information.
